[South Tenerife] Playa De Las Americas/Los Cristianos  Probably the most popular tourist area in South Tenerife especially for the younger ones. More bars, restaurants and shops than you can shake a stick at. Shop prices are pretty good in most places but you must shop around and don't be shy, try and get the price down and save even more but not all shops will barter but most local independently owned ones will.There are lots of different restaurants in the area anything you like, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, Portuguese, Mexican, Indian, McDonalds!... Be aware of the prices, most are very reasonable but check the menus displayed outside before entering. Beer and spirits are cheap in most places, the local beer 'Dorada' which is pretty good is the cheapest can be picked up for around €1.50 a pint, spirits are cheap to and you always get good measures so be careful a single measure here can be equivalent to a triple in the UK. Nightclubs and evening Entertainment bars are all over most of which have a tribute act like Billy Idol the 80's rocker, Rod Stewart, Chubby Brown, Soul and Motown singers there is something for everyone just have a look around for the posters, in fact have a look in our directory there are loads to choose from including contact details to. The weather here in the South varies but is usually around 70's from October to March then rises into the 80's and sometimes 90's. Beware of the sun! even though it could look a bit cloudy or hazy you can still get burnt, drink plenty of bottled water and keep off the booze until the evening when it cools down to a suitable drinking temperature. Watch out for Lucky Lucky men and Chinese women, you will come across one pretty much straight away the Lucky Lucky men usually sell you cheap watches and sunglasses and the Chinese women usually sell flashing glasses and silly hats, if your tempted to buy please barter them down as the quality of the goods is only designed to last the duration of your holiday, its up to you. NEVER pay the price they tell you. Watch your wallet or handbag!, the crime rate here is low with good police presence but if your stupid you might end up a victim, they don't always look like thieves and they are quick. Get about and see the place there is loads to see, take a trip to one of the water parks or attractions you will find an excursion operator on most street corners or ask your tour operator. Be careful of taxis they are pretty cheap but watch the meter and tell them you live here it can help. Buses are not that reliable but cheap so don't rely on them for set times.
